Community comes together to clean up parts of Springs

Many cleanup initiatives have begun taking place all over the town in recent months.

Various stakeholders gathered to carry out a clean-up operation of the Springs Taxi Rank and its immediate surrounding areas on March 8.

Ward counsellors, members of the Springs Taxi Association, SAPS and EMPD officers as well as some local business owners and foreign nationals who reside and work in Springs gathered to make the taxi rank clean.

This forms part of an initiative to clean up Springs and restore it to its former glory.

Not to be outdone, the community members of Welgedacht also organised a clean-up of its parks on Saturday.

Residents helped to cut the grass and picked up some of the litter that was scattered all over the parks.

“We are doing this because we are tired of the inactions and silence of the municipality. This is our home and we will do what we must to keep it clean and safe for our children,” says community member Sophia Moledi.

This has been the second clean-up for the community in March with plans for more underway.
