Charity golf day in aid of Katherine Botha
As they continue to find means of raising funds for Katherine Botha, her family hopes to secure attendance and sponsorship at the golf day event in support of Katherine.
The quest for sight is still on for Selection Park resident Katherine Botha (11).
After many months of trying to raise funds for Katherine’s treatment, her family and Light Fibre Infrastructure (LFI) have joined hands to ensure she regains her eyesight.
A golf day is planned for April 20 at Eye of Africa Golf Course in support of this worthy cause.
Katherine, one of LFI’s CSI candidates, was diagnosed with optic nerve hypoplasia (underdeveloped optic nerve) at four in 2015.
Last November, doctors discovered the tumour was pressing on her pituitary gland, optic nerve and lymphatic system and had further caused disruptions to growth and development, vision loss and fluid retention in the brain.

As the tumour is sitting in a very complex, difficult-to-reach part of Katherine’s brain, it can only be effectively treated using gamma knife surgery.
This is a non-invasive and focused technique that works by disrupting the genetic code of the tumour cells in a concentrated manner, thereby ensuring minimal or no damage to the surrounding tissue cells.
“The treatment is revolutionary and whilst it will help in treating Katherine’s condition and improving her health, well-being and life, it is expensive for her family,” said Nicole De Reuck, from LFI.
“We move mountains as a collective, so let us do it again for a little girl who needs our help,” said JB, Katherine’s mother.
