MachKnitterz spark creativity at 30-hour crochet marathon
MachKnitz hosted the 30-hour crochet marathon on May 26 and 27.
As a pledge of giving back to those in need, MachKnitz took part in a 30-hour crochet Safari Marathon on Friday and Saturday.
The marathon was hosted by the Afrikaans Language and Culture Association (ATKV) in Arendsnes, in collaboration with Maak ‘n Verskil Hekel, to assist in making and distributing blankets.
Springs organiser Jackely Adri was happy with the outcome of the marathon. She thanked the crocheters and knitters who participated in the marathon.

“No matter how small it may seem, it goes a long way,” said Jackely-Ann.
The overall winner of the most blocks and blankets made was Elise la Grange, while Cornel Olivier was the best creative knitter.
The crochet marathon is a nationwide initiative. Fellow knitters and crocheters made 20cm by 20cm granny patches, of which 36 were when stitched together to make one blanket.
