New substation doors a concern

Metro defends installation of new substation doors.

The Springs Advertiser has received complaints from concerned residents about a few substation doors that have recently been replaced.

The doors that have been replaced at a few locations were not damaged before they were changed.

In addition, the new doors seem to have been installed poorly.

The City of Ekurhuleni confirmed it intends to replace all old substation doors in Springs.

The purpose is to improve security, with each door costing between R30 00 and R70 000.

“They are more secure than the old doors,” said city spokesperson Zweli Dlamini.

In response to the poor workmanship on the installation of the new doors, Dlamini added the job on the doors is not yet complete.
