Karate club to host golf day for a purpose
The young karatekas from the JKS Karate Academy are on the path to representing Springs in the Asian-African Cup in Dubai.
Local club JKS Karate Academy celebrated its karateka who competed in the JKS National Karate Championships in May.
The karateka took home several medals, and two of them, Chichima Sikhonde (17) and Shamikka Pakkiri (14) were elected as part of the JKS National Team 2012 to partake in the Asian-African Cup in Dubai in September.
The Asian-Africa Cup is the athletes’ preparation for the JKS World Championship in Japan next year.
Chichima from Springs Boys High School obtained his brown belt from the academy and took third at the championships for kata.
Veritas College learner Shamikka obtained her red belt and took third in the championships for kumite.
The dojo will host a golf day to raise funds for the two to participate in the competition.
