Mike Teke was recently appointed as a professor of practice at the Johannesburg Business School.
This title is only conferred on professionals who contribute to UJ’s academic enterprise through their professional expertise.
Growing up in Kwa-Thema, he was affectionately called Whoosh because of his soccer skills.
Today most people refer to him as a businessman, entrepreneur, philanthropist, mentor, author – the list is endless.
At the Joburg Indaba gala dinner held on October 3, Mike was inducted into the SA Mining Hall of Fame.
He joins 16 other esteemed mining leaders who are publicly acknowledged as some of the most highly regarded individuals in South Africa.
In his own words, Mike noted, “I am just a boy from Kwa-Thema who wants to make a difference in the lives of others.”
