The local soccer club, African Tigers FC, held a launch on October 29 at Springs Secondary School.
The club, active for three years, launched with a gala banquet to celebrate its recognition as an official soccer club.
A group of parents established the club to give their children the best opportunities to succeed in football and life.
The club consists of children between the ages of six and 10.
Imtiaz Chouglay, the assistant coach, said the past years of growth needed encouragement and guidance, with loads of mental stimulation and heaps of physical activity for the team.
“This seed we’ve planted, we hope, will flourish into a club that realises its grand ambitions,” said Chouglay.
“When you are the new kids on the block, it is always worth being the biggest, meanest, and strongest, so the African tiger is our chosen spirit animal.”
Chouglay and the club management look forward to participating in the Eastern Local Football Association next year.
