Entities host Disability Awareness Expo
A Daggafontein Disability Awareness Expo was held on November 29.
The Community Desk (TCD) of Daggafontein, in collaboration with Disability Accessible Accommodation and Travel (DAAT), hosted its first Daggafontein Disability Awareness Expo on November 29.
The expo celebrated National Disability Rights Awareness Month, commemorated annually between November 3 and December 3.
Ofentse Rakhudu, the head of TCD, said the focus was on people living with disabilities within the enterprise space.
Rakhudu explained that Disability Awareness Month is a chance for people in communities to remove stigmas and improve the quality of life of people with disabilities through action.
He said one of the primary functions of TCD is to keep the communities they serve informed on matters happening in and around their environments.
“This is from the local neighbourhood level all the way up to affairs at national and international levels,” said Rakhudu.
“It is imperative we build communities that are in sync with what is happening around them.”
