Crocheters at Sip ’n Crochet stitch blankets together

The pink blankets the group worked on were for the ladies’ ward at Eventide Old Age Home in Brakpan.

The monthly Sip ‘n Crochet meeting at Zonskyn Tea Garden was a hit.

The ladies learnt how to sew squares together to make blankets and got to work after 10:00.

There was fervent sewing to put the squares together in rows of six, alternating between plain pink and patterned squares. They will then be put together into blankets for the ladies’ ward in Eventide Old Age Home in Brakpan.

The founder of Sip ’n Crochet, Heather Bendeman, wants to finish these blankets as soon as possible so she can move on to the following charity.

“I don’t like focusing on one charity or place exclusively because there are too many people and places in need.

Eventide has received blankets from us, and I encountered a different group also making blankets for them, so I would like to move on,” Bendeman explained.

The group has also had an influx of donations of wool and cash, for which Heather is thankful because wool can be costly. Donations allow the group to make more blankets and help more people.

Anyone interested in joining the group or donating may call Bendeman on 083 580 4756.
