Armed men cornered a guard patrolling the perimeters of an abattoir’s property last Sunday.
It was just before midnight when the victim walked into the guard room to find four men armed with pistols waiting inside.
It is alleged the thugs threatened the victim and asked him how many other guards were on the premises.
He told them there were six others.
According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the guard directed the robbers to where the other security workers were.
“The victim claims more men came, so there were 12 altogether. One of them was armed with a rifle,” added Tshabalala.
All the guards claim they were tied up.
The robbers made off with a cellphone valued at R1 200, the victim’s black security jacket and cap, and two radios.
According to the victim, the suspects spoke a Zimbabwe language.
