Museum geared up to make history
The Springs Mining and Military Museum has dedicated itself to being the custodian of Springs' history.
The Springs Mining and Military Museum has restored another piece of history. The museum has erected the recreation of the 1908 Modderfontein Benoni Gold Mine headgear.
This exhibit, which is the biggest one at the museum yet, is receiving a lot of visitors and love already.
The headgear, donated by the Bunny Park in Benoni, was gifted to then-Benoni Mayor Morris Nestadt in the 1950s. It collapsed 30 years ago.
The museum and its stakeholders thank the following donors for their contribution towards the building of the headgear: Prosafe Security, Timbuild Springs, CJJ Steel, Delmas Crane Hire, Chanmel Gardens, The Nut Hut, PVS Construction, RMS Rebar, City of Ekurhuleni, East Rand Gunners Association members, and all private citizens that gave them the support to get this done.
