Tennis club championship reaches finals

The Selection Park Tennis Club saw the end of its five-week long club championship on Saturday.

The Selection Park Tennis Club reached the end of its five-week club tournament on March 16. The championships saw strong players playing to secure the winner’s trophy.

Mieke de Lange from the club said, “Since the start of the tournament, there has been huge participation from the club members. It was fun for everyone who took part; even members who didn’t take part supported the event immensely,” said De Lange.

The winners and runners-up in the main draw were:

  • Ladies singles: Mieke de Lange and Sandy Kock
  • Men’s singles: Bryan Wiggill and Pieter Stoltz
  • Ladies doubles: Danielle Chapman and Mieke de Lange, as well as Sandy Kock and Kanika de Lange
  • Men’s doubles: Bryan and Scott Wiggill, followed by Justin Chapman and Justin Cunha
  • Mixed doubles: Justin and Danielle Chapman, followed by Pieter Stoltz and Mieke de Lange

The back draws event winners and runner-ups:

  • Men’s singles back draw: Scott Wiggill and Francoise Fick
  • Men’s doubles: Wikus Ras and Preggie Govender.
  • Following them were Krish Moodley and Francoise Fick.
  • Ladies doubles back draw: Elsa Labuschagne and Morgan Bothma
  • Mixed doubles back draw: Scott and Louise Wiggil. They were followed by Krish Moodley and Elsa Labuschagne.
