Men find partially clothed human remains

The SAPS will investigate the circumstances behind the person’s death.

The Springs police opened an inquest docket after community members found the remains of an adult in Holfontein on Tuesday afternoon.

According to SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, two community members saw the partially clothed skeleton floating in a river.

“While they were painting at a nearby building, the two men saw what they believed to be a corpse floating in the river,” said Tshabalala.

“Upon further investigation, they discovered it was a skeleton and notified the police.“

Tshabalala said the police cordoned off the scene, and the Pathology Forensic Service removed the remains to determine the identification and gender.

Anyone who could help identify the deceased or knows someone who might have been missing for some time can call the Springs SAPS on 011 365 5700.
