Stakeholders lead school shoes drive
Springs SAPS, in collaboration with liquor trading members, donated over 100 school uniforms and shoes to Welgedacht Primary School on Tuesday.
Welgedacht Primary School received more than 100 school shoes and uniforms on Tuesday from local stakeholders.
The school drive was spearheaded by the Springs SAPS in collaboration with liquor traders, liquor board directors and CPF patrollers.
Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala said the drive aimed to restore dignity to young learners and ensure they have uniforms and shoes that are in good condition.
“We are delighted to have this ongoing campaign as many children go to school wearing worn-out shoes or none at all, which can be daunting,” said Tshabalala.
The children were encouraged by Captain Nozipho Mapukata to stay in school and strive to become future leaders.
“We hope that this initiative will greatly impact learners and encourage everyone of them to wake up every morning thriving to go and study,” said Mapukata.
“We also encourage our learners not to drink alcohol and to advise their parents not to send them out to buy alcohol.”
