Springs val vas teen NWU

Springs Rugbyklub het op 6 April die nuwe Presidentsliga op hul tuisveld afgeskop. Springs het op die koue dag teen NWU Vaaldriehoek meegeding in die eerste rondte van dié toernooi en nie te goed gevaar nie.

Die o21-span het met 22-3 verloor. Die tweede span het ook swaar getrek en het 22-10 verloor.

Springs se eerste span moes hard werk in die finale wedstryd van die dag. Hulle het met 17-7 verloor.

NWU het eerste punte aangeteken as gevolg van ‘n strafskop. Daarna is daar vir Springs sewe punte toegeken deur middel van ‘n strafdrie.

In die tweede helfte kon NWU daarin slaag om nog twee drieë te druk terwyl Springs geen verdere punte kon aanteken nie.

Springs het op tye meedoënloos aangeval, maar NWU se verdediging was dodelik. Springs het ook ‘n geelkaart en ‘n rooikaart ontvang.

Springs se volgende wedstryd is op 13 April teen Meyerton.

NWU tackles Springs relentlessly

Springs Rugby Club kicked off the new Presidents League at their home ground on April 6. On this cold day, Springs competed against NWU Vaal Triangle Campus in the first round of this tournament and did fare too well.

The U21 team lost 22-3. The second team also struggled and lost 22-10. Springs’ first team had to work hard in the final game of the day.

They lost 17-7.

NWU scored the first points as a result of a penalty kick. After that, Springs were awarded seven points as a result of a penalty try.

In the second half, NWU managed to score two more tries while Springs could not score any further points.

Springs attacked relentlessly at times, but NWU’s defence was lethal.

Springs also received a yellow card and a red card. Springs’ next game is against Meyerton on April 13.
