Trail of togetherness: the rise of Rea Hamba Hiking Club

The next hiking trip is on May 24.

A group of kindred spirits came together in Springs with a shared passion for adventure and nature. They call themselves the Rea Hamba Hiking Club, united by a love for hiking and a sense of camaraderie and community.

Collien Tee Madimba and Baratang Mokoena founded the club. They are seasoned hikers with hearts as big as the mountains they climbed.

They believe one can find solace, inspiration and strength in the great outdoors. With this vision, they started organising regular hikes for club members, inviting experienced trekkers and beginners to join the journey.

As word about the club spread, it drew more people from Springs and beyond to its welcoming atmosphere and spirit of togetherness.

What set this club apart was not the breathtaking trails members conquered or the stunning vistas they savoured only, but the genuine connections forged along the way.

Each hike was a chance for members to support and encourage each other, share stories and laughter, and celebrate milestones big and small.

Whether it was conquering a steep incline, crossing a rushing river, or simply enjoying a peaceful moment in nature, the hikers’ bonds strengthed with their every step.

Soon, the Rea Hamba Hiking Club gained momentum in the local community and on social media, where its photos and testimonials inspired others to embrace the outdoors and seek connection in nature.

Their motto, ‘One step at a time, together we climb’, resonated with all who longed for adventure, friendship, and a sense of belonging.

The club invites members to join them on their next trail at De Wildt Hiking trail on May 24. For more information, call Collien Tee on 067 196 4864, Baratang on 061 490 9342 or email reahamba.explo@gmail.com
