Dunnottar Harvard no longer landing at the museum

The historical piece was supposed to come to the museum on May 26.

What should be a moment of exciting anticipation has now become sobering for the patrons of the Springs Mining and Military Museum.

The highly anticipated exhibit, the Central Flying School Harvard plane in Dunnottar, is no longer coming to the museum.

The plane was supposed to land at its new home on May 26 after about a year of efforts.

According to the social media post by Springs – History of a Gold Town, circumstances have changed and the municipality has decided to explore other avenues including keeping it in Dunnottar and restoring it on site.

Tony da Cruz, the founder of the museum, says even though the news is a little saddening, it always leaves space for other good things to come.

“The residents and visitors can look forward to more and exciting exhibits yet to come at the museum.”
