Springs Striders represents at the Comrades
This year's marathon has been the most attended thus far.
Twenty-one Springs Striders members lined up to run in the 97th Comrades Marathon on Sunday.
The race, which was 85.91km, was the shortest distance in Comrades history, starting from Durban City Hall and ending at the Scottsville Race Course in Pietermaritzburg.
Road runners know this race for its challenging course, camaraderie, and the spirit of perseverance.
The gruelling up-run was a test of body and mind, and all the runners had to work hard to overcome the big five hills, and all the other unnamed hills, to get to the finish line before the gun went off at 17h30.
All the Springs Striders members who lined up for the event finished the race. They set an example to aspirant runners; if you train hard and put your mind to it, you can overcome the Comrades route.
Their families and fellow club members at the side of the road supported our members, providing physical and psychological support.
“The committee of Springs Striders congratulates the members that completed the race and thanks our supporters on the side of the road.
