Vishkuil resident injured in midnight robbery
48-year-old man hides behind curtains as seven burglars break into his home in Vishkuil on Tuesday.
A 48-year-old man was assaulted during a house robbery on Sydney Road, Vishkuil, at midnight on Tuesday.
The man reported that he was asleep when he heard a noise coming from the sliding door in the living room.
When he pulled back the curtain to investigate, he heard gunshots.
According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the man managed to hide behind his bed and contacted a neighbor from the CPF.
“A few minutes later, the burglars broke through the sliding door to gain entry. Suspects assaulted the complainant with a firearm while demanding cash and a firearm from him,” said Tshabalala.
Tshabalala added that the man informed the robbers that he did not have either item, but he was still beaten. His wrists and feet were bound with nylon string.
The suspects attempted to steal his vehicle, a Hyundai H1 parked near the gate. They were scared off by approaching cars. The man sustained head injuries. No arrests were made.
