Local vet succeeds in manufacturing pet nutrition brand

Dr Thulani Mthimunye, known for being an excellent veterinarian, is also the master brain behind his pet nutrition brand.

Dr Thulani’s Veterinary Care Premium Pet Nutrition has been on the shelves since February and received good feedback.

According to the local vet, the dream was not always to have his own nutrition brand, but the seed was planted in his two decades of being a veterinarian.

“In my years of working with pets, I picked up common ailments of pets which could be controlled or prevented with good nutrition,” he said.

Good nutrition is not only important for humans but for furry friends as well.

“By taking proper nutrition, there will be fewer visits to the vet – the pets are healthy and that is what we want.”

Dr Thulani even joked about how he knows the quality of pet nutrition as he used to eat it along with his dog as a little boy.

The main protein source in Dr Thulani’s pet nutrition comes from human-grade chicken. It also excludes allergy trigger ingredients such as soy, wheat, pork and fish.

Each packet includes a recommended daily intake for standard pets, sterilised pets and senior pets. Dr Thulani says that it is important to note that pets are not supposed to eat the same portion throughout their whole life.

“This is a well-thought process with combined expertise and a process that has been ongoing for about four years. I worked closely with a professor nutritionist from Stellenbosch until we formulated the perfect combination. I needed to create something that would benefit my patients,” he added.

Dr Thulani’s Veterinary Care Premium Pet Nutrition is famous for its uniqueness in catering to cats and dogs and strengthening their immunity.

Although this product has only been on the shelves for a few months, it already has many success stories and great feedback.
