Springs SPCA no longer in quarantine
The Springs SPCA pound was closed for almost four weeks.

The Springs SPCA recently confirmed it has been cleared from distemper and the quarantine is over.
The facility was under quarantine for almost four weeks after a dog tested positive for distemper in October.
Distemper is a highly contagious and deadly disease that affects unvaccinated and vulnerable dogs, including puppies and adult dogs with compromised immunity.
According to a statement from the SPCA, a few dogs in the same block as the first distemper case have since died.
The facility’s veterinarian recently confirmed the pound is safe to reopen.
The SPCA encouraged the community to adopt.
