Chance Children’s Home and Nurturing Centre reopens after 18 months
After being closed down for about 18 months, Chance Children's Home and Nurturing Centre will soon reopen its doors.
Dunnottar community members were exhilarated on Friday during the reopening launch of the Chance Children’s Home and Nurturing Centre.
This centre, which was founded in 1997, had to close down last year after it was declared unsuitable for the children. Alstom saw the centre’s need and couldn’t help but jump in.
Over the last few months, the company and its employees have been very closely involved in renovating the centre through refurbishing and repainting the rooms, bathrooms and kitchen.
Before closing down, the centre was home to 96 abused, neglected and orphaned children between the ages of two and 18 years.

During her launch speech, Zaibonisha Turkey from Alstom said she couldn’t sit back and watch how the centre’s condition deteriorated.
“We had to make a plan to get the children back into safety and I am glad to say that after today, we can start welcoming them back into this home,” Zaibonisha said.
The centre will soon receive their first inspection and if all goes well, the children can make their way back into safety from December 1.
