Join the Tamil New Year 2025 celebration at Bakerton
All are invited to celebrate the new year of Visuvavusu Varusham.
As the Tamil New Year approaches, the Springs community have been invited to join the auspicious occasion.
The event celebrates the dawning of the new year called Visuvavusu Varusham 5126, also known as the Year of Beneficence.
Bhairavi Sungum is honouring the moment with song, dance and good food at the Bakerton Community Centre from 14:30 on April 12.
“Our calendar is structured around 60-year cycles, each representing the journey of our lives. Throughout these cycles, we encounter a range of experiences – both uplifting and challenging, highs and lows, joys and sorrows,” says Guru Vengatraman of the Adhi Lingeshwara Temple.
“Visuvavusu Varusham represents a good and positive year, beneficent for all.
He adds that it is a year fully controlled by the sun (Suriya Narayana) which impacts all living beings.
All are welcome and supper will be served. The community centre is located along 1st Avenue in Bakerton.
