Springs Town Bowling Club hosted a friendly competition on May 10 where they introduced a new game.
Tony Trancel, a coach and organiser said the competition comprised a quicker way of playing where there were only six runs.
“We wanted to create something new so we considered this as a trialn run. In this game, we don’t roll the jack. We have got the jack on the 20m mark and the mat on the 4m mark. Whoever wins the task goes first. The two leads play, when the lead is holding a shot, he picks up four shots and four points goes onto the card,” he said.
Tancrel added that when the skip plays, whoever picks up a shot gets eight points, the second shot gets you five points, and the third shot is worth three points. The points get added up and whoever has the highest points is the winner.
One of the club members, Sharon Pratt says what she enjoys the most about playing is the company she gets to enjoy.
“It is refreshing to step outside and socialise with friends while enjoying some friendly competition,” she said.
Tancrel said the aim of events like this is to attract sponsors as the club is in need of sponsorship.
