Springs Mining and Military Museum expands to make way for more exhibits
The museum is a successful testament of a public-private partnership done right.
The Springs Mining and Military Museum is reaching new heights and growing.
The founder and director of the museum, Tony da Cruz, says an additional section is being fenced to prepare for a flow of large heritage asset donations from military institutions and other State departments.
“The new section grows the museum from 5 500m² to 11 000m² and includes the indoor museum.”
He commends the museum’s budding relationship with the CoE and remarks how the museum is a testament to the success of the partnership.
“This public-private partnership with Ekurhuleni is setting an example of what is possible if we work together – saving our heritage, stimulating tourism, educating our youth and creating jobs. Thank you, Ekurhuleni, for your vision in allowing us to grow.”
He thanks the individuals and companies who made the project a success, which includes ProSafe Security, CJJ Stel, Baie Dankie Stoffel and the metro.
