Give Us Wings launches blanket drive to help vulnerable people

Give Us Wings NPO is holding a blanket drive for poor families in Springs, but collections have halted somewhat.

The chairperson, Elsa Jacobs, is pleading with the community to donate any used blankets.

“I’ve done food parcels for poor families, old age homes and unhoused individuals for 27 years,” Elsa explains. “The blanket drive aims to give blankets in Springs, but hopefully, we can expand to give out blankets in Brakpan and surrounding areas.”

Elsa notes that she can pick up blanket donations if the donor can’t drop them off, but drop-offs can be done at 47 Newby Road in Largo or 15 Madeley Street in Strubenvale.
