Friends of Marievale host fundraising events for the nature reserve
All funds raised during these events will towards the upkeep and maintenance of the Marievale Nature Reserve.
NIGEL – The Friends of Marievale recently held two fundraisers to support the upkeep and improvement of the Marievale Nature Reserve.
Nature lovers and conservationists gathered for a night under the moon on May 19.
The event offered attendees a magical experience, featuring guided nature walks, stargazing, and a relaxed evening under the stars.
Conservationists and birding experts shared insights into the reserve’s rich biodiversity, highlighting the importance of preserving its delicate ecosystem.

Visitors took part in a guided sunset walk during which they saw flamingoes. After sunset, the braai fires were ready for all to socialise.
A few days later, the organisation hosted its Marievale Fun Bowls Day. Bowlers and novice bowlers throughout the East Rand supported the Friends of Marievale fund-raising Fun Bowls Day at the Nigel Bowling Club on May 25.
Both bowling greens were full of participants eager to win the first prize.
Funds raised at the events will go towards the building of a shaded area for visitors to the Marievale Nature Reserve at the Duiker hide.
