Predator Muscle Park owner completes gym marathon for a good cause

The marathon involved 12 hours of non-stop exercise to raise awareness and funds.

Local fitness enthusiast Jonathan Blundell became a real-life superhero on May 30 when he wore a custom superhero suit and completed a 12-hour fitness marathon.

The event aimed to raise funds for the East Rand Children’s Haven and collect food and blankets for the Springs SPCA.

Jonathan exercised continuously for the full duration and raised about R4 000 for the children’s home. His superhero suit, created by ER Extreme Edge, helped highlight his goal: drawing attention to the needs of abandoned animals and vulnerable children.

“This wasn’t just about muscles or stamina. It was about showing up for those who need us, our furry friends and the next generation,” said Jonathan.

Claire Tomsett, a fellow member of Predator Muscle Park Gym, supported the effort by joining in for eight of the 12 hours.

Jonathan, who owns the gym located in Nuffield, Springs, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. He acknowledged sponsors including RGM Cranes, Dr CA Novis, David Hamilton, and Windscreen Distributors.

“A heartfelt thank you to Abby Lee for her touching contribution to the cause. The community really came together.

“I’m grateful to everyone who helped; from the donors to the people who cheered me on, to those who simply stopped to ask why I was dressed as a superhero,” said Jonathan.

Jonathan hopes to make the gym marathon an annual event to inspire others to support local charities in creative ways.
