Skoonplaas learners benefit from Gold One’s School Uniform Drive
Gold One Modder East Operation, in partnership with the Department of Education, donated school uniforms to 52 Skoonplaas learners as part of a larger initiative supporting 400 learners across Ekurhuleni.
The Skoonplaas community was among several to benefit from the School Uniform Drive on June 4 and 6. During the initiative, the mining company distributed complete uniforms to learners from eight schools across two districts.
Parents and guardians gathered at the Skoonplaas sports grounds to collect the uniforms on behalf of learners attending schools between Benoni and Springs.
“We supported 52 learners from Skoonplaas enrolled at different schools in the area,” said Chris Nchabeleng, Gold One’s social and labour plan officer.
The annual project assists and motivates learners in mining communities. It also included visits to Chief Luthuli and Thopodi primary schools.
“Gold One has also worked with the Gauteng Department of Basic Education in both districts to explore collaborative awareness campaigns focused on reducing teenage pregnancy, bullying and substance abuse in schools. The drive was well attended and deemed a success,” said Nchabeleng.
He thanked all stakeholders for their support and participation.
