Springs football club launches winter fundraiser to help SPCA
Supporters can pledge per goal in weekend matches as part of a winter fundraiser for animals in need.
Who knew football and pets could go hand in hand?
The Springs Premier Football Club will host a winter fundraiser for the Springs SPCA during their matches at the Veritas College sports grounds from 09:00 on July 12 and 13.
Club representative Melinda White said the fundraiser aims to collect non-perishable foods, warm blankets and monetary donations to support the SPCA.
“The public is welcome to come and support the players. Supporters can pledge a small amount, such as R10, for each goal scored by Springs Premier teams during the weekend,” said White.
“Whether it’s one goal or 10, every pledge helps raise funds that go directly toward food, shelter and care for the animals at the SPCA.”
A Kicks for Kindness pledge station will be set up at the grounds, where supporters can write their pledge cards for a specific team or the club as a whole. White added that after the matches, all pledged amounts would be tallied and donated to the SPCA.
