Follow-up: Streetlights on Wit Road gets finally fixed following years of complaints

Wit Road residents are seeing the light again after nearly two years of darkness. Chris Rossouw, who repeatedly reported the issue, says the faulty streetlights led to a security risk at his home. The City of Ekurhuleni says funding remains a challenge in resolving such issues.

After nearly two years in darkness, the streetlights on Wit Road are finally working again.

As recently reported in the Springs Advertiser, resident Chris Rossouw complained that the non-functioning lights led to a security risk at his home.

He reported the matter on the IMS portal, but the lights were not fixed, which led to the theft of his gate motor.

When the publication reached out to the City of Ekurhuleni, spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said there is a plan to fix the lights, but its implementation depends on the availability of funds.
