Stolen vehicle found hours after hijacking in Springs

A Springs man was hijacked at gunpoint on Wednesday night and his car recovered in Langeville.

A silver Ford Fiesta was recovered in Langaville after it was stolen in Springs August 6 in a hijacking incident. It is alleged that the victim was parked in front of a house in Gloucester Street at around 21:00 with his car door open.

“He was approached by two armed men wearing balaclavas. They demanded that the victim give them his phone. He managed to push the one man away and then fled,” said the Springs SAPS spokesperson, Themba Tshabalala.

Tshabalala said the two men drove off with the victim’s vehicle.

“The victim opened a case and while busy with his statement, he was informed by Netstar that his vehicle was recovered in Langaville, Tsakane,” he said.

Tshabalala said the vehicle was taken to Tsakane Police Station. No arrests have been made yet.
