The Springs Sanathan Ved Dharam Sabha treated the community to a lively day of culture and entertainment, raising funds for its 25th anniversary.

The Bakerton community enjoyed a day of fun at a fundraiser hosted by the Springs Sanathan Ved Dharam Sabha (SSVDS) at Springs Secondary School on Saturday.

The event began with a lively, fun walk, with participants stretching their legs while taking in the fresh morning breeze.

Attendees were spoilt for choice with various stalls selling food, jewellery, garments, cool drinks and more.

“We host various fundraisers to raise money for the maintenance of our organisation. This one is raising funds for our 25th anniversary, which we will celebrate on December 3,” said trustee Bunwarie Sivlal.

He added that the SSVDS was formed to propagate culture.

“We want to ensure that the coming generation is fully informed about our beliefs and culture and, in turn, ensure that everything is carried forward and history and culture are preserved.

“However, we do not limit this to Hinduism. There are many sects within the Indian culture, and we collaborate to support everybody,” he said.

The event included a show and shine and an entertaining Bangra festival, where the community danced late into the night.
