Springs police and Blue Hawk Tactical clamp down on illegal mining in sting operation
A joint sting operation by Blue Hawk Tactical and Springs SAPS put a stop to illegal mining in the area, leading to one arrest and the seizure of equipment.
In a sting operation in the Springs area by Blue Hawk Tactical, Springs SAPS and SAPS District Illicit Mining on September 5, officers were able to stop illegal mining activity, with one suspect arrested and detained.
The equipment seized on site includes two carbon tanks, three pendukas, four bags (GBM/material), two electric motors with gearboxes, seven wheelbarrows, three shovels and three water pumps.
The Blue Hawk area manager confirmed that the evidence seized is booked at the Springs police station with the detained suspect.
