Eight motorists arrested for speeding in Springs, highest at 118km/h
EMPD speed unit officers arrested eight motorists in Springs for exceeding the 60km/h limit, with the fastest clocked at 118km/h. All were detained and are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court.
EMPD Speed Unit officers arrested four men and four women motorists in the Springs area on August 27.
The EMPD said that during law enforcement duties on Nigel and Allen roads in Springs, monitoring compliance and adherence to the speed limit of 60km/h, officers stopped eight vehicles, which include a white VW Polo, a white Isuzu, a silver VW Polo, a red VW Polo, a red Haval, a silver Mercedes-Benz, white Kia and a white Honda.
The metro police stated that the drivers of the vehicles failed to comply with the designated speed limit, with the highest speed recorded at 118km/h.
“All eight motorists were immediately placed under arrest for exceeding the speed limit. They were detained at the Springs Police Station and are expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon,” said the EMPD.
The EMPD is appealing to motorists to always practise caution, saying it is important to adhere to the speed limit on the roadways.
