Bejandri Lourens brings home Continental Queen of Africa crown from Philippines

Miss Springs 2024 Bejandri Lourens proudly represented South Africa, earning the Continental Queen of Africa title at Miss Asia Pacific International.

Miss Springs 2024, Bejandri Lourens, was crowned Continental Queen of Africa at the Miss Asia Pacific International 2025 pageant held in the Philippines on October 8.

Although she did not win the overall competition, Lourens told the Springs Advertiser that earning the continental title was a reward for months of dedication, faith and perseverance.

She said she felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude and immediately thought of her country, her family and everyone who believed in her.

Lourens added that winning the title is an incredible honour that represents far more than just a crown. She explained that it is a reflection of faith, perseverance and staying true to her purpose through every challenge.

“For South Africa, it’s a celebration of our strength, diversity and the beauty of our people. I hope this win reminds every young South African that no dream is too big and that with hard work, humility and heart, we can shine on any stage in the world,” she said.

The beauty queen shared that representing South Africa was one of the greatest honours of her life. She said she loved being able to showcase the culture, warmth and incredible spirit of Ubuntu that defines the nation.

“Every time I walked on that stage, I felt the pride of my country in my heart and that gave me the confidence to shine not just for myself but for every South African watching back home,” she said.

Lourens described the competition as a truly transformative experience. She said it pushed her out of her comfort zone, tested her resilience and opened her heart to many beautiful cultures and stories.

“Despite the challenges, it was filled with so much growth, sisterhood and purpose. I’ll forever cherish the memories and the lessons it brought,” said the beauty queen.

Lourens faced difficulties upon her arrival in the Philippines and during the competition, the country was struck by an earthquake that affected all the participants, including Springs’ very own. She said those experiences reminded her just how fragile and precious life is.

“It was a moment that shifted the focus from competition to compassion. Being part of the relief efforts showed me the true meaning of beauty with a purpose: using our platforms to serve and uplift others. It grounded me and gave even more meaning to why I was there.”

Lourens shared a heartfelt message of gratitude to her family and supporters.

“To everyone from Springs and across South Africa who supported me, thank you for believing in me and for sending so much love from home.

“Your messages kept me strong through every challenge. I hope I’ve made you proud and reminded you that anything is possible with faith and determination.”

With the competition concluded, Lourens said she will continue working on the projects she started, focusing on empowerment, education and wellness initiatives that uplift others.

She concluded by saying she wants to use her platform to encourage more young women to embrace their voices and step into leadership, adding that this is just the beginning of a new chapter.
