Community invited to Springs Girls High Christmas market
The popular Christmas market returns on December 6 with stalls, games, and carols as the school raises funds for learner development.
Springs – Springs Girls High School will be hosting its third annual Christmas market on 6 December, with this year’s event expected to be bigger and better than ever. This, according to the school’s teacher and organiser, Caitlin Pretorius.
Pretorius told the Springs Advertiser that the market aims to bring the community together and strengthen the relationship between learners and the wider community. It also serves as an excellent opportunity to raise funds for the school.
Over the past two years, the market has featured vendors selling food, toys, cosmetics, accessories, books, second-hand goods, and unique handmade gifts.
Pretorius said the school community has been delighted by the variety of items on offer and is now looking to diversify the market even further.

“While the sale of weapons, alcohol, tobacco, or vape products is prohibited, we welcome stall holders offering a wider variety of items,” she said.
Food vendors must provide a copy of their Certificate of Acceptability (CoA) from the municipality to ensure safety.
Each vendor will pay R300 for a single 3m x 3m stall.
Learners on the market committee, along with support staff, will assist with offloading goods and setting up stalls where necessary.

Pretorius noted that electricity will not be provided, but vendors are welcome to bring generators if needed.
Funds raised at the market will support the school’s extracurricular programme, providing learners with resources and opportunities to develop their skills. Grade 11 learners will also use the event to raise money for their matric dance and valediction next year.
An entrance fee of R10 per person will apply, and secure parking inside the school grounds will be available for R10 per vehicle.
Entertainment will include the school choir performing Christmas carols, as well as games and activities for younger children. Interested vendors can rent a stall by emailing the school at greenelves@springsgirlshigh.co.za
