Springs Extension man shot twice in attempted hijacking
Police are investigating after two men tried to hijack a man’s vehicle in Springs Extension.
A 34-year-old man was shot twice during an attempted hijacking in Springs Extension on November 10.
According to Springs police spokesperson, Sergeant Charity Zwane, the victim was driving into his residential place when two armed men approached him.
She explained how the men instructed the victim to get out of his vehicle and get in theirs, which he refused to do.
“The victim got out of his vehicle but refused to get inside the suspect’s vehicle. He was forced into the vehicle, but resisted. During the struggle, the suspects shot the victim twice in the lower body,” she said.
Zwane added that the would-be hijackers fled the scene in the victim’s gold Mercedes-Benz sedan and were accompanied by another vehicle, a Nissan Almera.
“The victim was left at the scene and was later transported to a medical facility for treatment. Tracker subsequently recovered the hijacked vehicle in Tsakani Ext 6,” she said.
Investigations continue, and no arrests have been made.
