Night under stars raises funds for Marievale

Nature enthusiasts gathered at Marievale for an educational and inspiring evening under the night sky.

NIGEL – The Marievale Nature Reserve and Bird Sanctuary recently welcomed visitors to an evening dubbed Night under the Stars.

The event aimed to provide a relaxing and educational experience. Renowned birder Andy van Dyk guided guests on an educational birding walk, followed by a braai at the reserve’s picnic site.

Organised by the Friends of Marievale, the event served as a fundraiser to support ongoing conservation efforts at the reserve.

One of the projects needing funding is the construction of a shade area at the duiker hide, which needs a cement mat under the roof.

“Join us in supporting the preservation of Marievale’s natural beauty and wildlife,” said Dee Johnson, the secretary of the Friends of Marievale.
