Maintenance to cause 8-hour water outage

Residents in parts of Ekurhuleni, including Springs, Brakpan, Tsakani and Benoni, are advised to prepare for a planned eight-hour water supply disruption on December 13.

The CoE announced that Rand Water will do planned maintenance at its Zuikerbosch plant, resulting in an eight-hour water outage across several areas.

The maintenance is scheduled for December 13, from 08:00 to 16:00, and will temporarily disrupt the water supply in these areas:

Springs/Brakpan/Kwa-Thema
New Era, Enstra, Paul Krugers-Oord, Springs, Casseldale, Strubenvale, Nuffield, Selcourt and extensions, Selection Park, Fulcrum, Daggafontein, Edelweiss, Wright Park, Pollak Park, Dal Fouche, Lodeyko, New State Areas, Dersley Park, the Presidents Dam, Rowhill, Oranjehof, Struisbult, Sonneveld, Minnebron, Sunair Park’s higher lying area, the Barsalinga complex, Vulcania, Dalview, Reedville, Kenleaf, DalPark and extensions, Helderwyk, Maryvlei, Anzac, Brakpan North, Van Eck Park, Vulcania, Hattingdon, Denneoord, Rand Collieries, Larendale, Brenthurst, Witpoortjie, Welgedacht, Bakerton, Persida, Grootvally, Grootvlei, Grootvlei estates, Grootvaly small holdings, Slovo Park, Paynville, Geduld and extensions, Petersfield, Modder-East, Alliance and extensions, Kingsway, Gugulethu, Everest, Ergo-Mkhanwca, Sallies Village and Brenthurst, Leachville exts 2 & 3 and Kwa-Thema.

Spruitview, Leondale, Rondebult, Sunward Park, Van Dyk Park, Freeway Park, Parkdene, Cinderella, Elspark, Groeneweide, Klippoortje, Boksburg South, Boksburg Industrial, the Boksburg CBD, Farrar Park and Libradene.

The metro will dispatch water tankers to service the affected areas during the outage, and advises residents to use water sparingly, limit use to domestic needs, maintain on-site storage that can supply at least 24 to 36 hours of water and ensure that any private equipment meant to boost water pressure is properly maintained and functional.

Businesses and institutions with high water demand are urged to prepare adequately to minimise disruptions.

“Customers who need higher pressure are reminded that they are responsible for installing and maintaining pressure-boosting equipment, in line with Section 40 of the general conditions of water supply in the Water Services By-Law,” said the CoE.
