Joint operation leads to arrest, recovery of suspect vehicle in Springs
A swift response by community safety structures and the SAPS leads to the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of a vehicle linked to a string of burglaries in the Springs area.
A joint operation between local security personnel and the SAPS led to one arrest and the recovery of a silver vehicle linked to multiple burglaries in Springs.
Martin Montgomery, the head of the Neighbourhood Watch in Dal Fouche and a CPF member, received a tip-off about a burglary on January 28. He was with fellow CPF member Justin du Plessis.
“We were two streets away from the crime scene when we received the tip-off, so we responded immediately. Upon arriving at the scene, we apprehended one suspect as three escaped by jumping over residential fences,” Montgomery said.
He said a coordinated search was launched as the CPF, ProSafe, the flying squad, AfriForum, and Springs SAPS all arrived to provide backup.
“While the other suspects evaded capture despite a thorough search of the area, the operation was a success for the community,” he said.
The recovered vehicle is a silver Ford.
Montgomery urged community members to provide the police with information about other crimes that could be connected to this vehicle.
