Suspected robbers nabbed in Northmead
“Technology-based intel is proving invaluable in the fight against crime.”
Three men, aged 31 to 56, wanted in connection with an armed robbery in Dunnottar, Springs, on February 2, were nabbed in Northmead two days later.
According to Benoni Flying Squad (BFS) spokesperson, Warrant Officer Grant Giblin, the suspects allegedly followed the complainant, from a bank in Springs, shortly after he withdrew R130 000.
“Following the incident, the registration of the white Volkswagen Polo sedan used during the robbery was loaded on the License Plate Recognition (LPR) system,” he said.
“On January 4, just after 13:00, the vehicle was detected in Benoni and an alert was sent to law-enforcement, the Benoni CPF as well as local private security companies in the area.
