Local athletes represent Muriel Brand at National Disability Championships

The South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) Toyota National Championships will take place in Stellenbosch.

Muriel Brand School has eight athletes who qualified to participate in the South African Sports Association for the Physically Disabled (SASAPD) Toyota National Championships in Stellenbosch from March 27 to April 1.

Lauren Fremouw, the school’s para-athletics team manager, said Muriel Brand will host a golf day at State Mines Country Club on March 19 to help raise funds for the athletes.

The athletes competing at the national championships are:
• Hlelo Modise, U20 100m, and 200m.

• Kaylyn Payne, U17 discus, shotput, and javelin.

• Donique van den Berg, U17 100m, 200m, long jump, and shotput.

• Thabo Maje, U17 100m, 200m, 400m, and long jump.

• Teagon Coimbra, U20 discus, shotput, and javelin.

• Damian Vuyk, U20 100m, discus, and shotput.

• Zander Green, U17 100m, 200m, and long jump.

• Duncan Theunissen, para-powerlifting.
