During the operation, 22 pedestrians and 20 vehicles were stopped and searched for illegal goods or substances.

On March 6, officers from EMPD’s first response unit conducted a stop-and-search operation in the Springs area.

The EMPD said that during the operation, officers stopped and searched 22 pedestrians and 20 vehicles.

“The purpose of the operation was to ensure that pedestrians and motorists were not in possession of any illegal goods or substances,” shared the metro police.

EMPD explained that officers also inspected vehicles to ensure compliance with the provisions of the National Road Traffic Act (Act 93 of 1996).
