KUSO golf day tees off in Springs to support disadvantaged learners
Golfers rallied behind KUSO’s mission to uplift disadvantaged learners through their annual golf day.
Kutlwano Social Organisation (KUSO) hosted its annual fundraising golf day at Pollak Park Golf Club on March 27.
The proceeds of the golf day will go to purchasing school shoes and dignity packs for disadvantaged learners from schools in Kwatsaduza. These will be donated during their Nelson Mandela drive in July.
“We sent out an open invitation to people across Gauteng, but we’ve also got golfers who travelled from Northern Cape and Cape Town as well as various businesses and individuals from Springs and Kwa-Thema,” said KUSO’s chairperson, Dali Mofokeng.
Reflecting on the event’s improvement since last year, he said it has grown significantly.
“We are sitting at about 90 players. The target was 120, which is a big improvement from last year’s turnout.
“It encourages us that we can completely sell out next year and make an even bigger impact in the lives of young people from our community,” he said proudly.
He expressed his gratitude to the City of Ekurhuleni, as MMC for Finance, Jongizizwe Dlabathi, supported the event.
“KUSO had been in existence for the past 23 years, and we have always prided ourselves on seeing the dignity of young boys and girls being restored.
“Throughout the years, we have paid attention to the needs of the learners. At first, we would give away sanitary towels for the girls but we realised boys are also in need of toiletries which is why we now make dignity packs for both. Seeing them happy is what fulfils us as an organisation,” he said.
