Planned power outage to affect parts of Springs

A planned maintenance outage will leave several Springs areas without electricity for four days.

Residents and businesses in parts of Springs are urged to prepare for a planned power outage scheduled from May 11 to 14.

According to a notice issued by the City of Ekurhuleni, the interruption is due to planned maintenance work on the electricity network.

Power supply will be switched off from 06:00 on May 11, and is expected to be restored by 18:00 on May 14.

Areas set to be affected include:

  • Iron Road
  • Gold Street
  • Murdoch Street
  • PFG
  • MPact
  • Grundle
  • Isover
  • Huhtamaki
  • Fulcrum
  • Liebherr
  • Fibreglass Substation
  • Springs Industries Substation
  • Fulcrum area

The municipality noted that while every effort will be made to restore electricity within the scheduled timeframe, no guarantee can be given that the deadline will be met.

“Work will continue until maintenance is completed. Residents are also urged to treat all electrical networks and equipment as live at all times during the maintenance period,” the municipality said.
