Residents called to support Tutela winter outreach campaign

Beyond creating awareness of the circumstances of many of Tutela's beneficiaries, the event aims to collect donations to help them.

Residents of Springs are invited to join Tutela Family Care Brakpan’s “Sleep in a Box” campaign on the night of June 5 to help create awareness of the harsh circumstances faced by many vulnerable families in the community.

The event starts at 18:00 in the parking lot of Tutela’s offices at 71 Victoria Avenue in Brakpan.

In addition, they are collecting blankets, clothes and food items for the next morning, when they will be distributing these items to some of their beneficiaries.

The winter project the following day will serve about 150 to 200 people, aided by a collection drive held by the NG Kerk Dalpark Kaleo.

Clr Riaan van Zyl will be participating in the campaign, and is challenging business owners and other councillors to join him and spread the word to their clients and constituents.

He asks the public to bring items like blankets, pillows, jackets, scarves, hats and food items to
“make his stay more comfortable,” which will go to Tutela afterwards.

Anyone can participate – bring only your contribution, a flask of coffee and a sandwich, as well as the box you will be sleeping in.

To participate, contact Naomi Mostert, administrative worker for Tutela, on 082 887 4783.
