Springs education community pays tribute to veteran teacher
Seseli Bethuel Phooko will be remembered for his commitment to education and his lifelong passion for music in the Kwa-Thema community.
Seseli Bethuel Phooko (74), a respected teacher who was loved and admired by many, passed away on May 27.
Born in Payneville in Springs on November 15, 1951, Phooko went on to obtain his diploma from Bonamelo Teachers’ College and dedicated more than 30 years of service to education at Combined Primary School, now known as Kwa-Thema Primary School.
Phooko had a remarkable passion for music, serving as an assistant conductor of the LCC choir under the leadership of Meshack Mashiane, leading the choir at his local church, and later joining the Leratong Old Age Choir, where he continued to share his love for music.
He leaves behind his two brothers, nieces, and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, former colleagues, learners, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
