Springs Cub scout earns prestigious Leaping Wolf Award
Springs Central leaders have praised Jemimah Dean for her dedication, leadership and perseverance after earning the coveted Leaping Wolf Award.
There was a sense of pride and celebration at Springs Central recently as young Cub Jemimah Dean (11) was awarded her Leaping Wolf badge, one of the highest achievements in the Cub Scouting programme.
According to the Springs Central Air Scouts, the Leaping Wolf Award recognises exceptional commitment, perseverance, and personal growth, and Jemimah has proven herself a shining example of all three.
Cub instructor Gareth Langton shared that through consistent effort and enthusiasm, she has demonstrated not only a strong understanding of scouting skills but also a willingness to take on challenges with confidence and determination.
Leaders at Springs Central praised Jemimah for her remarkable development over the past year.
“She has grown tremendously, both in her abilities and as a young leader. Jemimah leads by example, encourages others, and approaches every task with a positive attitude,” said Langton.
Langton explained that her journey toward the Leaping Wolf was marked by dedication and resilience.
Whether mastering outdoor skills, contributing to team activities, or supporting fellow Cubs, Jemimah consistently rose to the occasion.
He said that her leadership qualities have become increasingly evident, earning her the respect of both her peers and leaders.
“The Leaping Wolf badge is not easily earned, requiring Cubs to complete a series of challenges that test their skills, character, and commitment.
“Jemimah’s success is a testament to her hard work and determination, as well as the support of her family and the Springs Central scouting community,” noted the instructor.

Langton said that as she proudly wears her Leaping Wolf badge, Jemimah stands as an inspiration to fellow Cubs, showing what can be achieved through perseverance and a positive mindset.
He added that her accomplishment marks not just the completion of a significant milestone but the beginning of even greater opportunities ahead.
Jemimah’s mother, Paula Dean said scouting has played an important role in her daughter’s personal development.
She explained that scouting helps children build confidence by encouraging them to learn new skills, earn badges and achieve goals.
