Selcourt Primary School bids farewell to principal

Garry Mons played a crucial role at Selcourt Primary School for 15 years.

The Selcourt Primary School family will lose an important part of their school’s management team.

Garry Mons, the principal, will emigrate to New Zealand at the end of this month.

He started his career at the Chris Evert Tennis Academy in the US in 2000, where he achieved great success.

He returned to South Africa in 2004 and taught at Springs Boys High School until 2007 when he joined Selcourt Primary School.

From then, his career blossomed, and he became the head of the department for life skills in 2010.

He achieved even greater success in 2014 when he became deputy principal.

On October 1, 2016, he became the principal and took the school to greater heights.

As a past learner at the school, he was not only the esprit de corps learner of 1993 but also a prefect and actor in many musical productions.

Mons can list many career highlights, but athletics and revue productions are his favourites.

He will be missed by staff and learners.
